TRIGGER: GENDER AS A TOOL AND A WEAPON

La exposición investiga el lugar del género en el arte y la cultura contemporáneos en un momento político de impasse y renovadas guerras culturales. La  muestra presenta un grupo intergeneracional de artistas que exploran el género más allá de lo binario para expresar formas más fluidas e inclusivas de la identidad.

El New Museum ha mostrado su interés por este tema de la representación del género y la sexualidad con reiteradas exposiciones y programas, como:  “Extended Sensibilities” (1982), “Difference” (1984­-85), “HOMO VIDEO” (1986­-87), y “Bad Girls” (1994). Siguiendo esta tradición, Trigger expande la conversación sobre las identidades, marcadas por complejas intersecciones de razas, clases, sexualidades y discapacidades.

La exposición muestra obras de más de cuarenta artistas que trabajan en medios diversos, incluyendo cine, video, performance, pintura, escultura, fotografía, y artesanía.
